Happy Easter Everyone.

I hope you are all well and rested.
Term 2 starts this week and I am looking forward to seeing you all again.

Term 2, 2019 (10 weeks)
Wednesday April 24 - Croydon
Thursday April 25 - Chirnside Park (even though it's ANZAC Day)
Saturday April 27 - Mooroolbark
Monday April 29 - Blackburn. (9 weeks)

I have started a new class at Wyreena on Thursdays at 1:30 pm. We will be doing Ba Gua, which is a more modern style of Tai Chi which focuses on circular and continuous movements and is a little bit more rigorous than normal Tai Chi. It is really great fun.
Here are a few examples.........
Daoist Bagua Master Lu Zijian 118 years old (2 minutes)
BaguaZhang(Eng sub)-Bát quái chưởng
(30 seconds)
Another good example here, the second part of the final fight scene from The One, Jet Li.
10 Tenets of Taiqiquan.
Being empty, agile and keeping energy at the top of the head.
Pulling the chest in and stretching the back.
Relaxing the waist.
Being able to differentiate “full” and “empty”.
Lower the shoulders and let the elbows fall freely.
Using creative thought, rather than muscular strength.
Link what is high with what is low, what is low with what is high.
Joining the inside with the outside.
Changing the movement without interruption.
Searching for calm in the middle of movement.

The significance of the Tai Chi salute: As well as representing Yin and Yang, the right hollow fist represents skill, the left open palm represents virtue, and the left thumb over the hollow space in the right fist represents equality and unity.

Story from Trish

"In the 25 years of learning and practising Tai Chi, I have always struggled with having good balance, especially when doing a kick!!  That has changed in just a few months!

Konrad starting talking about 'drawing up the pelvic floor muscles' to help engage the core muscles, and to imagine a thread drawing up from there, through the body and up through the top of the head.  This helps us to stand tall and straight.

Well what a difference!!  With daily practice I can now see that my balance has improved greatly!!

Hurray!"

Trish

Jokes Corner

"I've been telling people about dried grapes - just raisin' awareness!

What's another name for a tai chi instructor? A slow coach! ( a Konrad original)
